Mima!
She came, we played hard and now she's gone home again. We had a wonderful week with Mima! It is always such a treat to have her out. I am so thankful that I have TWO wonderful mom's in my life. She is such an example to me in how she loves her kids. I'm even more honored because she treats me like one them. She excels at being a wonderful mother-in-law. Why? Two reasons that stand out are that she graciously relinquished her #1 woman status in her son's life to me (which I can't imagine doing, but know it will come someday-x3) and is so full of wisdom (but she isn't pushy about it). I still remember watching her give Xander a bath when he was 3 weeks old. I had been pretty mechanical about it and it was amazing to watch her interact with my newborn son by making bath times both functional and fun. I know I probably would have figured it out eventually. But her example enabled me to figure things out sooner and transition into motherhood easier.

What a beautiful post on your fantastic mother-in-law! I'm so glad you married Rich, not the least for it allowing me to know Mima too!
ReplyDeleteI second Bethany's comment - we are all blessed to have Vicki in our lives. And I am especially blessed that Heather has another godly older woman in her life!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the beautiful post -- it brings tears to my eyes. It was easy to let my son go because we fell in love with from the very beginning. I remember when Rich first told us that he wanted us to meet his girlfriend -- I had already figured out who "she" was -- Moms know. You have been a blessing to him & to us & a truly fantastic Mom. Love, MiMa
