After an 8am service outside, we headed to my parents for the day. We missed having my sister and her family here. We were blessed to have several people join us though for food, fellowship, celebrating, golf and games!
My mom put pennies (and a few nickels/dimes/quarters) in the eggs and then held her 2nd annual 'store'. It was fun to watch the kids take stock of their cash and determine whether or not they would save the money or make some purchases.
And so I count...

a delicious gluten-free pie crust that tasted better than the best graham crust I've ever had.
smiling faces of family and friends eating fresh whipped cream - even if I couldn't partake.
remembering that the old is gone and the new is come.

Fun to see your family grow up! Greta has changed so much and looks wonderful, so intense, so full of life! She won't be too far in age from the new baby coming soon to Evie and Joe, which they both will appreciate.

ReplyDeleteYes, it definitely cuts down on candy! My mom did have a bowl of jelly beans. They could buy 2 per penny. It definitely cut down on the sugar high, but they felt empowered because they had the power to choose playdough or jellybeans... :) Last year she had some Bible story books and puzzles as well. This year it was much simpler - playdough, sticker sheets or jelly beans.

ReplyDeleteI wish my kids would cooperate for the photos like they would when they were young. Your little girls is so adorable and I am sure your boys will be her gaurdian as she grows. I too am counting my gifts more in journalling than blogging right now but counting still the same. Thanks for popping in the other day.Blessings!
ReplyDeleteOh Heather...the photos are gorgeous! Your family is beautiful. And trying to get that *perfect* shot with four little ones is SO difficult! But, you will find that as time passes...the *perfect* shots are not actually the ones you love the best. Trust me on that one. And enjoy!!
